The only sound device that should be working after it all should be the USB interface device. Also said to uninstall pro tools untill the installation of all external devices was completed then reinstall ProTools and hope for the best.

I had a feeling it may be because Windows 7 has automaticly downloaded drivers for the external usb sound interface device and he didnt actually install it with the supplied software.īasicly the instructions I gave to him for when he got it home was to uninstall every external sound device and plug them in one by one installing them with the supplied software and not to allow windows to download the drivers off the internet. The customer has spent over $3,000 on the PC to do one job and this error keeps occuring and for the money he has spent on the PC I want to be able to fix this issue for him. However I have disabled every audio device on the PC except the external device to no avail. Ive been thinking that ProTools is defaulting to the onboard sound or the dedicated sound card that he has in the PC (asus XONAR sound card) and not the external device which runs on USB. I dont have the names or models of these devices but I should know shortly when he brings the PC back in. The customer has an interface device in which he plugs his 2 studio speaks into and also has outputs for headphones using a 6mm plug and also inputs for gutiars and other devices. I myself am not as profecient in the software as he is and rely on information from others regarding diagnosing problems with this sort of software however Im finding it really hard pressed to find any information on what is causing the error message in the title. He has a very high spec PC (Z79 Motherboard, 3960X i7 CPU, 32GB Ram, GTX560ti GPU etc) and he bought it for the sole purpose of using it for pro tools. I also checked the security settings to see if the driver was being blocked which it wasnt. I followed the online troubleshooting guide but this didnt help. Im new on this forum and am actually joining up to help out a customer who purchased a PC from my store. I installed the Focusrite Control software on my Macbook Pro 2018 (Mojave) and even though Logic Pro could see the hardware the Focusrite software was unable to.
